Constitution of the Adopted Village Cell
Preamble
We the teachers of Arts, Science and Commerce streams, and office staff of B.H. College, Howly along with Principal form a volunteer cell named as "Adopted Village Cell" and declare that
"We all the members of the College family vow to accept this constitution to develop the nearby Barbarijhar and Simlajhar Villages to an ideal village on 7th May, 2015."
Name, nature and members of the cell
Section -1: The cell is named as "Adopted Village Cell". Its nature is completely volunteering only.
Section -2: All the teachers of Arts, Science and Commerce streams along with the office staff including principal will be the members of the cell. With due permission of the Principal, nominated members may also be included.
Abolition of the membership
Section -3: The membership of a teacher or office staff will be abolished if he or she is retired, being transferred to another place or proved to be involved in unconstitutional activities.
Functions of the cell
Section -4: The cell will conduct the following activities to implement the ideologies as mentioned in the preamble:
(a) To keep the two villages clean.
(b) To make the villagers aware of the activities necessary for health care.
(c) To arrange pure drinking water and sanitary lavatory systems through Government Schemes.
(d) To organize free health camp time to time.
(e) To arrange meetings in the villages time to time to understand their problems and to provide suggestions for removal of them.
(f) To provide necessary financial help to specially abled persons.
(g) To give importance to the modernization of the cultivation sector.
(h) To bring awareness against tobaccos, alcohols, intoxicants etc.
(i) To motivate the young generations of the villages towards higher education.
(j) To arrange some classes by the members of the cell to remove illiteracy among females.
(k) To aware the villagers about blind faiths and superstitions.
Executive committee of the cell
Section -5: There will be a executive committee to implement the section-4 successfully. The committee will be composed of 11 members including advisors, president, vice-president and convener.
Term of the executive committee
Section-6: The term of the committee will be of one year. At the end of the year, the convener will convene a general meeting to explain the activities performed and their impacts during the year, and submit the audit reports.
Fund of the cell
Section -7: College authority will provide the necessary fund for the cell.
Amendment of the constitution
Section -8: The executive committee may decide regarding the amendment of any section of the constitution when necessary.

Free Health Checkup Camp
Adopted Village Cell of B. H. College organised a free health checkup camp in collaboration with IMA, Barpeta Road on 01/07/2015.
A programme on 'Derma Face Camp' was arranged in B. H. College, Howly on 4th May, 2017 at 1.00 PM keeping in view of skin diseases. This camp was specially meant for the school students of adopted villages- Barbarijhar and Simlajhar. Dr. Bobita Boro, Dermatologist & Prof. of FAAMCH, Barpeta delivered her speech on different problems arising due to skin diseases. She also served free health check-up to the students as well as teachers of the college and supply free medicines from Health Department. All are highly benefited in this camp.
A weeklong teaching programme to the school students of adopted villages- Barbarijhar and Simlajhar was conducted where Professors of B. H. College - Nayendra Narayan Dev Choudhury, Dr. Ganesh Goswami, Khurshed Alam, Dandeswar Deka, Usha das, Dipali Kherkatary, Baburam Basumatary, Hunjili Katharpi, Rajkumari Das, Dr. Arun Boro, Dr. Apurba Kumar Boro, Rajlakshmi Dutta, Dr. Nibedita Goswami, Dr. Nirmali Malakar, Prasanta Rabha, Dr. Bhanu Nath and Library Assistant Purabi Das taught the students. The programme started on 17th December, 2018 and closing ceremony was held on 24th December, 2018 10 AM where Principal. Dr. Bhushan Ch. Pathak delivered his speech on the occasion.
Awareness Programme on Agriculture and Veterinary on 10-02-2022
An awareness programme on Agriculture and Veterinary was held in Seminar Hall, B. H. College, Howly at 2.00 PM on 10-02-2022. In this programme, Mr. Hriday Kamal Das, Senior Agriculture Officer, Mrs. Mamita Saikia, District Agriculture Advisor and Dr. Dhrubajyoti Kalita, Veterinary Doctor, Sorbhog State Veterinary Hospital delivered lectures as resource persons. They explained different Govt. Schemes and asked the villagers of adopted villages to take advantage of the same. The manager of Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Achinta Saha distributed different medicines among the farmers. More than 100 participants (Farmers) along with Principal, Dr. B. C. Pathak and members of the cell were present in the meeting.
A workshop on Field Testing of Rice Knowledge Bank (RKB) under Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Barpeta in collaboration with Adopted village cell, B. H. College, Howly was held at Seminar Hall on 29th March, 2022. The daylong programme (10 AM to 3 PM) was inaugurated by Dr. B. C. Pathak, Principal, B. H. College, Howly. Vice Principal, Prof. Ranjit Bhuyan, Dr. Arup Kumar Deka, Senior Scientist, KVK and Dr. Jyoti Bikash Nath, Rice Research Specialist, International Rice Research Centre, Philippines delivered lectures in the workshop. A demonstration programme was conducted by research scholars of Agriculture University Kankana Das, Mridupaban Mudoi and Devajani Deuri by installing the app RKB in the mobiles of the participants. The explained the utility of the app installed and benefit of the app. 15 nos. of Farmers and 15 nos. of students of adopted villages registered in the workshop. The registered participants were provided TA / DA by KVK, Barpeta. All the members of the adopted village were present in the programme.
An programme on tree plantation was arranged in Barbarijhar and Simlajhar villages on 25th April, 2016 at 1.30 PM keeping in view of the global warming which is created by environmental imbalance. The programme was inaugurated by Omar Ali, an oldest person of the locality. All total of 50 valuable saplings of different varieties were planted at different places of the locality.
Awareness Programme on Cultivitation on 25-04-2016
An Awareness programme on cultivation was held at community hall of Barbarijhar village on 25th April, 2016 at 11.00 AM organised by Adopted Village Cell in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Howly (under AAU). In the programme Mr. Gunadhya Upamanyu, Agriculture Scientist, KVK, Howly participated as resource person.
Field visit to adopted villages Simlajhar, Barbarijhar and Raypur with students and Professors Usha Das, Dr. Shankar Kar, Ritul Talukdar, Dr. Dipali Kherkatary, Dr. Apurba Kr. Boro and Preeti Narzary on 28-10-2022 under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.
Field visit to adopted village Madulijhar by Usha Das, Dr. Kripanjali Pradhani, Dr. Apurba Kr. Boro, Dr. Arun Boro, Dr. Md. Aziz and Dandeswar Deka on 21-09-2022 under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.
Banner having list and pictures of adopted villages of B. H. College, Howly under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan have been hanged in the adopted villages, viz., Simlajhar, Barbarijhar, Madulijhar, Raypur and Moutupuri. A permanent banner has also been fixed in the college campus. Usha Das, Dandeswar Deka, Dr. Md. Aziz, Dr. Dipali Kherkatary and Minhajur Rahman have helped in this work.
Submission of UC & SOE to UBA, 15th November, 2022
Today on 15th November, 2022 the following documents have been submitted to UBA through e-mail. 1. Utilization Certificate, 2. Share of Expenditure, 3. Report on Survey, 4. Individual reports on the 5 adopted villages, 5. Photographs of Banners and 6. 5 nos. of village survey forms. All the documents have been uploaded in the files.

List of Faculty members, students involved in adopted villages under UBA for the year 2022-2023 and List of SC/ST students of the adopted villages Simlajhar and Madulijhar have been attached in the file. Thesse lists have been sent to UBA according their request to send it by 12-03-2023.
