About Red Ribbon Club

Red Ribbon Club The Red Ribbon Club is a voluntary on-campus intervention program for students in educational institutions to make the youth aware with proper information on HIV/AIDs/STI/Sexuality/Drug use and other related issues. Moreover making the female students to identify and understand situation of abuse and exploitation. It also tries envisages to instill charity mind among students to help and support the people living with HIV/AIDS and reduce the myths, stigma and discrimination among them. And also motivate the students to come forward for voluntary blood donation for good cause of the society and needy people. The Red Ribbon Club is initiated and supported by multi-sectorial collaboration particularly using the services of All India Medical Association and FAAMCH, Barpeta. The key areas of Red Ribbon Club in B. H. College, Howly- 1) It aims to organize and facilitate regular voluntary non-remunerative blood donation among the youth. 2) To encourage positive health behavior as well as ensuring sustainability of the club. 3) To motivate the youth in developing their skills in leadership, negotiation and team building. 4) To enable the youth to learn about gender equality, physical fitness, yoga necessary for a good health. 5) To educate and well train the people of an adopted a village- Koraiguri near B.H. College, to make them deal with health and hygiene issues, impart knowledge about HIV/AIDs/STI/Sexuality/Drug use, female abuse and other related issues through awareness camp, seminar regarding positive and safer health.

Awareness Programme on AIDS 1st December, 2022Red Ribbon Club and NSS, B. H. College, Howly has organised an
Awareness and Prevention Programme on AIDS among the
students, teaching and non-teaching staff of B. H. College, Howly
for a noble and social cause. Dr. Nilika Thaosen, Medical Officer,
Barpeta Road Community Health Centre was the Resource Person having immense knowledge about AIDS protection and prevention. She enlightened 255 students and 45 teaching and
non-teaching staff to make them aware of deadly virus. This type of
awareness programme is very essential for the college students
because at a young age many students destroy their lives due to
drug addiction.

Blood Donation Camp 22 March 2023Red Ribbon Club, B. H. College, Howly in collaboration with FAAMCH, Barpeta and NSS B. H., College, Howly has organised a Blood Donation Camp to encourage youths, students and teacher for the
noble cause of the society. 32 students and 5 teacher have joined the
campaign. More than 60 students and teacher have checked their
haemoglobin level. But due to high allergy level, blood already
donated and the cycle did not completed 3 months yet, high blood
pressure, low blood pressure, sugar level, less than 12.6 haemoglobin
level; some of the donners were unable to donate blood.
This type of Campaign is very essential for the College students as
well as the teachers because we all are born not only for ourselves
but also to do something for the society at large.

Video & Poster Making Competition 20th March 2023Red Ribbon Club and NSS, B. H. College, Howly has organised Video &
Poster Making Competition. 40 students for Poster making & 20
Students for Video Making Competition from various department
participated and among them best three participants and one
Consolation prize were awarded.

Awareness Programme on AIDS, World AIDS Day, 1st December 2023Red Ribbon Club, B. H. College, Howly has organised an Awareness
and Prevention Programme on AIDS among the students, teaching and
non-teaching staff of B. H. College, Howly for a noble and social cause. Dr. Suruchi Singh, Asstt. Prof., Department of Zoology, B. H. College, Howly and Prof. Pranab Debnath, Asstt. Prof., Department of Zoology, B. H. College, Howly were the resource person who enlightened the programme with their immense knowledge and practical examples.133 students and 34 teaching and non-teaching staff have joined the program. Red ribbons were distributed among all the fraternity of B. H.
College as a symbol of remembrance and support to the AIDS affected
people. This type of awareness programme is very essential for the
college student to safeguard them from the ill effects of AIDS and its
prevention.
